In the WEAR-BP study, we are testing several wearable and traditional blood pressure monitors to better understand their accuracy, comfort, and practicality in everyday life. As a participant, you will be asked to wear the following devices for a 24-hour monitoring period. 

​All devices are non-invasive, lightweight, and safe to wear while going about your usual routine.

Device 1: ABPMPro

Type: Wearable BP monitor

Worn: Upper arm

What it does: This device has an internal activity and body position sensor which measures blood pressure throughout the day and night.

​Device 2: Spacelabs Ambulatory Blood Pressure Monitoring

Type: Traditional ambulatory blood pressure monitor

Worn: Upper arm

What it does: This device is used as the current clinical standard. It measures your blood pressure at regular intervals over 24 hours, even while you are sleeping.

​Device 3: Aktiia Blood Pressure

Type: Cuffless wrist-worn blood pressure monitor

Worn: Like a smartwatch on your wrist

What it does: This device uses an optical sensor to estimate blood pressure values. This design may provide more comfort and convenience, especially during sleep or physical activity.

Device 4: LiveMetric

Type: Cuffless wrist-worn blood pressure monitor

Worn: Like a smartwatch on your wrist

What it does: This device uses nano-technology to measure your blood pressure in real time, without a cuff or the need for manual calibration.

Device 5: BPro

Type: Cuffless wrist-worn blood pressure monitor

Worn: Like a smartwatch on your wrist

What it does: This device measures your blood pressure automatically every 15 minutes over a 24-hour period. It works by capturing pulse wave signals from your wrist and using a special algorithm to estimate your blood pressure.

Device 6: Biobeat Chest Patch

Type: Wearable chest patch 

Worn: Small, disposable device that adheres to the chest

What it does: This device uses the photoplethysmography technology to continuously monitors vital signs and is designed to provide real-time health data monitoring.

Device 7: ActivPAL Activity Monitor

Type: Lightweight, wearable device that tracks physical activity

Worn: attached to the front of the thigh

What it does: This device tracks physical activity by measuring posture and movement. It accurately records sitting, standing, lying, and stepping patterns every second of the day.
